NewsPastoral Message from Archbishop Peter The devastating earthquake in Haiti has affected some 3 million people in Haiti. Although the death toll remains uncertain, it is likely that many thousands of people have been killed. That country is the poorest in the Western hemisphere and there is an urgent need to provide help and aid to the people. Our own difficulties with the recession, and more immediately the extremely bad weather, pale into insignificance in the face of the appalling suffering of the people of Haiti. Pope Benedict has pledged that, “The Catholic Church will not fail to move immediately, through her charitable institutions, to meet the most immediate needs of the population.” In England and Wales, CAFOD has pledged £100,000 to assist with the relief. As our own contribution to that effort in this Archdiocese, I am asking for a special retiring collection for CAFOD this weekend and ask you to contribute as generously as you can to that collection. I am also asking that we all keep the people of Haiti very much in our prayers. +Peter - Archbishop of Cardiff Having you say on ‘Assisting Suicide’ more Cardiff High Schools Federation Report ReportCLERGY APPOINTMENTS Fr Kevin Paine has been appointed Dean of the North Gwent Deanery Fr John Meredith has been appointed parish priest at Maesteg and Aberkenfig.
